The past 12 months saw us put in a lot of work in our YouTube channel and judging by the way it’s growing you guys really liked what we are making of that place. So we decided to look back and share the most popular videos of 2019.
Releasing a phone in the early days of 2019 is one of the key elements to getting many views throughout the year, but the more important part is actually launching a phone many will want to buy. Xiaomi did exactly that – it was the first company to introduce a midranger with a 48 MP camera and it struck gold.
Huawei wanted to be ahead of everyone on the foldable device trend and showcased the Mate X at MWC 2019. Later we had some hands-on experience with the groundbreaking device.
Samsung also got plenty of the spotlight, even if its own foldable phone didn’t make the top 10 – a lot of people wanted to see more about the Galaxy A70. It is a lovely three-camera phone that might lack impressive camera performance, but is otherwise a lovely midranger to have.
The next video in our list of most popular reviews is the Galaxy A50 – essentially the Galaxy A50’s smaller version with a cheaper price tag.
Xiaomi’s flagship for early 2019 was the Mi 9 – three cameras, Snapdragon 855, 48 MP shooter with Sony IMX586 sensor and the latest MIUI 10. The video review on our YouTube channel gathered a huge amount of likes and views.
Following the success of the Redmi Note 7 family, many Xiaomi fans eagerly waited for the Redmi Note 8 series. The lineup did not disappoint, bringing four cameras to a $200-priced phone.
We are not done with Xiaomi – another phone’s video to amass a lot of views and likes was the Mi Note 10. The tremendous camera powerhouse with its 108 MP sensor by Samsung for the main camera and two telephoto lenses. This video review has one of the highest views per day ratio we’ve had and we aren’t surprised at all.
Today there exist several competing approaches to delivering a phone with an all screen front. Samsung’s Galaxy A80 went with a rotating camera that not only eliminates the need for a dedicated selfie camera, but also delivers much better image quality.
Huawei is currently having a lot of trouble with launching new phones on the global market but the early months it was its usual prolific self. We reviewed a lot of phones, but amazingly enough one to stand out was the Huawei P30 Lite. It is a nice midranger that received a healthy amount of interest throughout the year, mostly because there weren’t a lot of other Huawei phones in this price range.
The final one is an honorable entry – the long-term review of the Pocophone F1 by Xiaomi. It didn’t qualify to the top 10 in terms of views, but it is one of our most liked videos of 2019. The phone has a religious following and even though it got no proper successor people are still keeping a close on all developments regarding it.
Here’s to an eventful 2020 which will bring us a lot of new phones to review on our YouTube channel. We are also nearing 1 million subscribers, so don’t forget to click the Subscribe button to help us reach the milestone.
