Samsung is moving quickly, and how! The October security update has been released for the unlocked Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ in the US, soon after the unlocked Galaxy S10 models were updated as well. Software version N97*U1UES1ASI3 is rolling out to the Note 10 and Note 10+ over the air at this moment.Like the Galaxy S10 update, the one that is rolling out for the Galaxy Note 10/10+ does not include the same changelog as the update for Exynos-powered models in the rest of the world, which received improved camera quality and stability of keyboard sound along with the new security patch. Not getting the most recent improvements and features on time is standard fare for Snapdragon versions of Samsung’s flagships stateside, but on the bright side, at least the company has not delayed the October patch itself. The October patch fixes a severe vulnerability that is said to affect some specific phone models, including the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S8, and Galaxy S9, that can let attackers take complete control of a device. The vulnerability has reportedly been exploited by an Israel-based cyber intelligence firm already, and while not all Galaxy devices are said to be affected, Samsung is still hurrying and releasing the October security update for as many devices as quickly as possible. The carrier-locked variants of the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ are yet to get the latest security update, but we will be sure to let you know once that changes. If you own an unlocked Note 10/10+, you can grab the update over the air from the Settings » Software update menu on the phone or upgrade by flashing the relevant firmware that are downloadable from our firmware archive.
