Wood and glass photo frames can be had for relatively cheap, but they come with an issue: you can only display one picture at a time. What happens if you have thousands of digital photos taken on multiple devices? A digital photo frame is a logical answer, and we’ve rounded up the best of the best right here.

It can play video, and all content is easily managed with the app. The frame features the honeycomb rear design Nixplay is known for, as well as the power cable that doubles as an adjustable stand.


The Aura Mason frame has an 8.9-inch display with a 1600×1200 resolution with a 4:3 aspect ratio, and it works in both landscape and portrait modes without the need for any stand. The frame comes with unlimited free photo storage, and the app makes for easy setup and management.


Pix-Star’s 9.7-inch frame has a 1024×768 resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio that’s more suited to fit the standard photo size, and it has a beautiful IPS display that can handle video and photos. It has 8GB of internal storage to be used with Wi-Fi sharing, it can play radio stations and give reminders and weather forecasts, and it has a USB port and an SD card reader for those who’d like to skip the cloud experience.


If you’d rather not spend much more than $50 on a digital photo frame, Micca’s 8-inch option is still an excellent choice. It includes a USB port and SD card reader, it can play back music and video, and the 1024×768 LCD display does a decent job displaying your photos. You don’t get Wi-Fi support, but for a lot of the people, the price makes this an easy decision.

If we’re making a suggestion

There are plenty of digital photo frames on the market today, and choosing one can be tough. For most people, however, the Nixplay Smart photo frame is going to deliver what’s needed. It’s the upgraded version of the Nixplay Seed (one of our previous top picks), with a 10.1-inch display and 1280×800 resolution. It has a beveled frame that will fit in just about anywhere, and it includes HuMotion sensors that turn the display off when no one is around to see it.

The Nixplay app makes setup and management easy, and there’s 8GB of storage built into the frame. Connect it with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, and even sync it with popular social media platforms for quick sharing. It will play short videos with audio support thanks to built-in speakers. Mount it on a wall or set it on a flat surface with the power cable that doubles as a stand.

If you’d rather not spend as much as our top pick commands, the Micca 8-inch frame is no doubt a far better choice. It costs just more than a quarter of the price of the Nixplay Smart, and while it won’t quite match the resolution or size, it will do an excellent job of displaying your photos on the cheap.
