More laptop models could adopt OLED display technology next year, all thanks to Samsung Display and the company’s push for expanding its already impressive OLED market share.Samsung Display recently hosted the OLED Forum 2019 in Taipei where hundreds of officials representing various laptop brands – including ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo – had a closer look at Samsung’s laptop display solution for next year. According to The Korea Herald, the company intends to widen its product portfolio in 2020 and offer a 13.3-inch Full HD OLED panel alongside the existing higher-res solutions.Samsung OLED benefits and adoption rateSamsung’s OLED panels have several advantages over conventional LCD panels, including better outdoor visibility, lower power usage, and even shorter response times. They generally offer fantastic picture quality and their thinner profile allows manufacturers to create thinner laptops.The popularity of OLED laptops increased significantly this year, with more than 10 OLED-powered models from a variety of brands including Dell, HP, and Lenovo to name a few, making their way onto store shelves. Popular 2019 models like the Dell XPS 15 and the Gigabyte Aero 15 are reliant on Samsung’s 15.6-inch 2160p displays.
