Samsung India is strengthening its R&D operations as the company is set to hire no less than 1,200 engineers by the end of the year. This includes Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, and more. The goal here is to pave the road for future R&D of AI and on-device AI, deep learning and machine learning, IoT, networking, cloud technologies, UI/UX development, data analysis, etc. Samsung India will visit IIT campuses in 17 cities and start the recruitment process on December 1, but it should be noted that this push to strengthen R&D operations isn’t limited to India, but rather, it reflects Samsung’s global ambitions.Samsung is one of the largest R&D spenders in the world, and throughout the first half of 2019 alone, the company spent over $8.4 billion on research and development. Likewise, this isn’t the first time for Samsung to hire a large number of engineers in India. Three years ago, the company hired 800 engineers, and just one year later, Samsung has hired an additional 1000 engineers in the country.5G is also poised to expand next year, and a new generation of foldable devices is going to hit the market in 2020. Samsung is deeply invested in both of these areas and it makes sense for the company to want and remain an innovator.
