Oppo exec hints that the Find X2 will be thicker than the Reno3 Pro

The Oppo Find X2, the long awaited sequel to the game-changing model from 2018, is expected to be unveiled before the end of March. Oppo execs are being coy, giving out only a few details – the latest is about the phone’s thickness.

Oppo VP Shen Yiren said on Weibo that “success” is defined differently for different phones – if you want thin and light, get the Reno3 Pro he said. If you want flagship hardware, he added, then choose the Oppo Reno Ace or Find X2.

This is a pretty clear hint that the X2 will be bulkier than the Reno3 Pro. That’s okay, the original Find X wasn’t particularly thin either (9.6mm), but the pop-up module which held both front and rear cameras is what made it unique.

The original Oppo Find X Unfortunately, the Find X2 will not feature an under-display selfie camera, instead it might score another first by becoming the first phone to support 50W wireless charging. 50W Super VOOC wired charging made its debut on the Lamborghini Edition of the original Find X, so a new record in wireless charging will be a fitting feature of the new Find flagship.

The upcoming phone is expected to sport a “waterfall” display (i.e. with pronounced curves on the sides) with 120Hz refresh rate and top of the line color rendering. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 865, naturally, and will use an image sensor with “omnidirectional” autofocus (the successor to Dual Pixel AF).
