Ninja Theory announces ‘Project: Mara’ horror game

We all know that Microsoft’s Ninja Theory team is working on Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II and Bleeding Edge at the moment, but that’s not all the studio has been up to. Today, the team revealed “Project: Mara,” which appears to be a psychological horror game in the works.

Aside from the rather intense teaser trailer, the studio said that it wants to explore new ways of storytelling with the experience. It’ll be interesting to see how it pans out and what new techniques Ninja Theory uses to convey the plot.

Project: Mara will be a real-world and grounded representation of mental terror. Based on real lived experience accounts and in-depth research, the aim is to recreate the horrors of the mind as accurately and realistically as possible. Project: Mara will be an experimental title and a showcase of what could become a new storytelling medium.

We don’t know much about the game, but can’t wait to find out more. Since joining Xbox Game Studios in 2018, Ninja Theory has been working on a lot. Aside from Bleeding Edge and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, the new recently-announced innovative research and development project, “The Insight Project,” is also in full swing.

Since Project: Mara, or whatever it’ll end up being called, is an Xbox Game Studios title, it’ll be part of Xbox Game Pass whenever it releases. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we know more about the game.
