Mockup renders of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip look awesome

2020 is turning out to be a very exciting year for smartphone innovation. Specifically, foldable smartphone inadvertently are summoning the return of the clamshell form factor with fully foldable displays. Following the Motorola Razr’s announcement, Samsung’s got the Galaxy Z Flip (formerly rumored as the Galaxy Bloom) in the pipeline.

The folks over at LetsGoDigital have produced some mockup renders of the incoming foldable phone based on previous teasers and live-image leaks of the Samsung flip phone.

The mockups give us a really good idea of what the new Samsung phone might look like. The hinge mechanism looks strikingly similar to the one on the Galaxy Fold. There’s a power key on the right of the lower section of the handset and a volume rocker on the right of the upper half. There’s a small external display next to the main dual-cameras and single LED flash.

The inside display features a punch-hole display with an embedded selfie camera, rumored to be a 10MP shooter. The clamshell is currently rumored to pack a Snapdragon 855 chipset and support some kind of super-fast charging for the dual-battery setup. One of them is said to be a 900 mAh with the other’s capacity unknown.

The Galaxy Z Flip may be the first consumer smartphone to feature foldable glass – this, while other foldable phone use plastic-based materials for the bendable screen surface. The screen itself is slated to fold open to a fairly large 6.7-inch screen.

The images and video don’t really leave much to the imagination in the aesthetic department, but there are still many unanswered questions and technical specs left unidentified. The Galaxy Z Fold could possibly be unveiled at the same time as the Samsung Galaxy S20 series at Samsung’s Unpacked event next month.
