The preliminary stage of our public vote for the best phones of 2019 got intriguing, but in the end, five phones from the three main categories emerged. With nearly 70,000 votes across three categories for almost 60 phones, you picked those to compete in the final round.
Flagships
The Samsung Galaxy Note10+ took the top vote last week, and for a reason. It features refined image processing, which made its camera one of the best of this year, plus its wired charging was boosted to 45W, leaving other Samsung models in the dust and catching up with the competition. The competition doesn’t have the S Pen stylus with its newfound motion gesture controls to go with its usual stylus duties.
The OnePlus 7T Pro came a close second. It features a 90Hz display (which no other in the Top 5 does), same for the pop-up camera. Also, OnePlus optimized battery usage, reaching 100h Endurance rating in our test.
The Galaxy S10+ brought Samsung’s first premium triple camera, finally adding the ultrawide cam that was missing from the S9 and Note9 phones. It did the same thing on the front with a dual punch hole camera with wide and ultra wide lenses. Despite being months older than the others, the front and rear cameras are still some of the highest-rated of this year.
Galaxy Note10+ • OnePlus 7T Pro • Galaxy S10+ • Huawei P30 Pro • iPhone 11 Pro Max
The Huawei P30 Pro was the first phone to feature a periscope zoom camera with 5x magnification (125mm). The new RYYB 40MP sensor of the main camera takes stellar low-light shots and uses its resolution for hybrid zoom that is needed to bridge the gap between the 1x main and 5x tele cameras. Huawei created a very competitive package with a great AMOLED display, fast in-house chipset and a large battery that charges quickly.
The iPhone 11 Pro Max is only one of two phones that can record 2160p @ 60fps video with three cameras simultaneously (the other is the smaller 11 Pro). The Huawei can’t even do 2160p @ 60fps with one camera! Plus, Apple’s chipset is faster than anything Android has mustered this year and Apple really upped its game when it comes to battery life.
Unlike the preliminary round, here you can vote for only one smartphone. Choose wisely!
