Oppo’s upcoming smartwatch tipped to have an ECG sensor

Last month Oppo teased its first smartwatch, but said nothing about specs. Now leakster Digital Chat Station posted that the watch will feature an ECG sensor.
 

Apple was the first to introduce ECG capability on a smartwatch (with the Apple Watch Series 4), but since then Samsung (Galaxy Watch Active2), Withings (ScanWatch) and Xiaomi/Amazfit (Verge 2) have implemented it.

ECG aside, the Oppo smartwatch will have a rectangular display instead of a round one. VP Brian Shen argued that this allows more information to fit on the screen while round screens are optimized for aesthetics instead.

The Oppo watch is expected to be unveiled in Q1 of this year and there’s a good chance that this will happen at the same event as the Oppo Find X2 reveal.
